| Podcast: Bull Markets and Absolute Return Funds |
|
by S. Wade Hansen by John Jagerson Learning How to Put This Week's News to Work in Your Portfolio Some of you have suggested that LM has been a little negative of late; that we pick on innocent banks and regulators, or poo-poo the latest and greatest financial products or make fun of “green shoots.” Well, we would like to point out that the FDIC closed another bank on Friday, #41. Oh, and they closed #42; and #43 and #44. And also bank #45. Then the Conference Board announced yesterday that they were “surprised” that consumer confidence continued to fall. Likewise, the Case-Shiller Index came out yesterday showing home prices off 18 percent year-over-year. We’re just sayin’. But since you asked, we decided to write about the “anatomy” of the beginning of a bull market. Not that it’s going to be a bull market, mind you. But if it were, what would it look like. (The good news is educated investors don’t need a bull market.) Of course if you come to Learning Markets for a dose of reality and want us to cut the crap, then you’ll be more interested to learn whether “absolute return” funds deliver more than just fees. For more, here’s the complete list of articles and videos published in the last week. As always, they’re just as fresh today as when we first ran them.
