S&P 500 and DJIA End Week Near Highs The major U.S. stock indexes were able to hold onto most of their gains from this week, and they closed near their highs for the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and the S&P 500 (SPX) were both able to gain a little ground today, but we saw a late-day sell-off that indicates some traders were taking profits after a stellar week.  Next week is going to be an interesting week from an economic announcement standpoint, and these economic announcements will certainly impact whether or not the stock market can continue climbing.
