We are all investors. Some of us are very active traders; others simply make monthly contributions to
401(k) plans and IRAs. And some of you are here because you’re just getting started. But whether by choice or by design we have all been given the responsibility for our investments. We are responsible for understanding risk, improving returns and making sound investing decisions.

Learning Markets can help; and it’s all free. We publish several articles a day that discuss investing strategies in action. We use current market events to create learning opportunities that will help you understand how the most common investing strategies work, in practice.

Using Learning Markets: Three Easy Steps

We publish between one and three new articles each day. We recommend:
  1. If you're new to investing start with our Guides. If you're already investing jump right in and start reading our daily articles to get investing ideas and to better understand some of the more complex strategies and analysis.
  2. Click over to the guides for more information anytime you’re mystified by a subject.
  3. Ask follow-up questions in the forums.

      What is a Guide?

Newbie or Not, Welcome to the Guides

If you’re truly new to investing you should spend some time reading our investing guides (see below). The guides will help you understand the basics of investing: how markets work, how to choose a broker and easy ways you can dip your toes in the investing pool. You will need this foundation of basic knowledge in order to get the most out of our daily articles.

But perhaps you’ve been around the block a time or two. Our guides can still help. We have guides that tackle complex investing topics like profitable portfolio management and proper trade analysis. And when we talk about a more complex subject in one of our daily articles we will point out a few guides that might help.

What’s a Guide Anyway?

Each guide contains a series of articles and videos on a particular topic, like “finding stock trades.” The videos are short and (usually) quite entertaining. Regular feedback from our users tells us the instructional format of the videos help immeasurably.

Best of all, you control the experience. If you think you know a subject, go on, skip ahead. We won’t mind. If you don’t get it, watch it again.

Note: If you’ve never invested before, we recommend you first read: What You Should Know Before You Start Investing.
